Illinois Horse Slaughter Plant
Cavel International is a horse slaughter plant located in DeKalb, IL. It was burnt down in 2002 and they are now opened once again.

There is a bill currently before Illinois House, HB 1171. This bill will make horse slaughter for human consumption illegal in Illinois. It will be heard during the Spring 2005 session.

About the bill: Amends the Illinois Horse Meat Act. It will prohibit the slaughter of horses for human consumption or the sale or transportation of horses to be slaughtered for human consumption.
